sharpened pencils:)

I've mentioned a few times that I love "You've Got Mail" and I watch it..not once or twice a year but more like 8-10 times a year. So the other day my facebook status said this:
Lane Dixon Moore: watching You've Got Mail...I want a bouquet of sharpened pencils! I love this movie...never gets old:)

And this afternoon my husband came home with this:

seriously.....he's great!

day to day

I feel like the first 3 weeks of this school year have been a quick blur. It never fails that areas of my life collide and God uses both of them to speak.....it never fails that at the beginning of a new school year I look at each child and become increasingly overwhelmed and super stressed out with the amount of work I have to do with each one of them to carry them as far as they can go. The only thing that keeps me grounded and going and pushing each day is knowing that it all is His and that I have to trust Him so hard to keep pushing hard each day. If I look too far ahead at where they have to be it's overwhelming...If I take it day by day, giving it over to Him and trusting Him to show me and give me wisdom...I feel empowered and strengthened to approach the daily needs and even look ahead to the needs they will be encountering.

so much like my walk with Him....when I think about how far I have to go and how much I have to learn...it's overwhelming. When I take it day to day, giving it over to Him and trusting Him...again...I feel like a sea of possibilities await.

I'm certainly not undermining the beauty of future vision and the leadership that vision entails, but sometimes.....you just have to take it day by day.

sam's club pizza

Went to Sam's Club this weekend to pick up a few things. Brett LOVES pizza..I think if I bought enough of it he would eat it every night for dinner. Me...not a huge fan, but I like it occasionally. I picked up a Sam's Cluh Meat supreme...and personally...I think Sam's Club pizzas are AMAZING! I love them and love it when we have Sam's Club pizza night...along with Nestle Tollhouse Cookies:) just sayin'...gotta have these nights every now and then:)

Convenience Series

Have so loved the "Convenient Series" we are going through at church. This past Sunday's message definitely challenged me to take the higher road vs. convenience. You can listen to it here.

LendingTree Great Scott

Love this commercial! Could be because for most of my childhood...age 4-8, I dreamed of being a super hero.....specifically, Wonder Woman...had a pajama set in full with a cape and gold crown:) Oh, and Shera was a close runner up:)

Peanut butter in the fridge

ok..so....even though I love routine. I also get just a little crazy when school gets "back at it." Here's just a couple of crazy things I've done over the past few days:
1. put the JIF Peanut Butter in the 'fridge.
2. put Garlic Salt after cooking in the 'fridge
3. Lost one iphone
4. threw another iphone in the trash (recovered it a few min. later....)
5. and have talked in my sleep nonstop.

.....my poor husband.

anyone else??? it's ok...i wouldn't be surprised if I'm the only one who does this kind of stuff:)

back at it

Started back to the daily grind this week. I was a little sad to get back into it simply because the balancing act of life kicks into high gear when I am teaching...but I have found one positive this week. I love routine and every part of my life...spiritual, physical, emotional, and personal drive is much more elevated and focused when I am in a routine. Though I love the freedom of summer (especially when it is finally here), I really do enjoy the "daily" as well.

So here's to the "daily grind":)

kiva

Have you seen this? Kiva. It's very similar to donorschoose for teachers, except it's for entrepreneurs in other countries who need support to live off the bare minimum. Their slogan is "loans that change lives." Incredible way to help others. So original. check it out.

Ham. Mill

Got to hear B. preach this AM at the Ham. Mill campus. The church has been going through "Paul'sTravel Blog" and it has been incredible to hear all of the different pastors share on Paul's journey. B. spoke on the book of Galatians. Walked away thinking a lot of different things, but loved this: "When the principles of God are held in contempt, when they do nothing more than just crowd our lifestyle...we deny His existence by our actions."

good word.

tops-summer 09

Pre-planning begins tomorrow so thought I would give my "tops" of summer 2009......please keep in mind that I was working hardcore to finish up my graduate degree so that I would be done for the new school year...so my summer might look a little lame to some...

1. Reading the entire Twilight Saga in just a few short days! (Slight obsession has begun.) Was a little sad when I finished all of them.
2. Tutoring Kay and Sean and our adventure to the World of Coke.
3. Passing my comp. exam!
4. Listening to Twilight soundtrack
5. Watching "the Proposal" with friends
6. Eating at Flip Burger Boutique downtown Atl....seriously, if you come to Atl. it's a must! Top Chef runner -up Richard started it and it is yummo! Has a super trendy atmosphere, is affordable, and has Krispy Kreme donut milkshakes!!!
7.buying skinny jeans after much convincing from Sarah
8. katie's super cute "bun in the oven" shirt...and how cute she looked wearing it!
9. reading Eyes Wide open and discussing it with B.
10. watching a Cosby episode with B. late at night.
11.Brooke and Wade's wedding weekend...had the most fun with friends and family in Carrollton. Loved dancing my heart out with B...who is a great dancing partner by the way!
12. being able to pull my hair in a ponytale again.
13. saying good bye to my 8th grade girls small group who I have been with for three years! It was so incredible to see how much they've grown!
14. flowers sent to me from the "purple team"
15. surprise bookshelf for my classroom
and writing this post.
