Mariachi Michael Jackson Hits and Hillsong United?

Went to my favorite Mexican Restaurant the other night with my sweet friend Sarah and her family. The whole night was so much fun........besides hearing a Mariachi Band sing all of Michael Jackson's greatest hits...the best was the compliment my husband received....after we had gotten our food..our sweet waitress came up to Brett and said, "Are you a Christian?" Brett looked at her and said, "Well, yes..yes I am." She then asked, "You're in that band...Hillsong United aren't you? I saw you guys in concert a few weeks ago in Atlanta."
oh my goodness.....my husband was soaking it all up! He loved it! Of course we set her straight and assured her he wasn't "Joel Houston" but boy was my husband flattered!

So what do you think? I don't see it...maybe a little?

cavities lead to fun brushing!

So had a couple of cavities at the dentist this week. They suggested I use a different toothbrush....so I bought a new Oral-B Triumph.....I LOVE to brush my teeth now! Seriously...never thought I would say that! It has a timer that syncs with it that tells me to switch quandrants every 30 seconds! It even has a cute smiley face that smiles at me when I have brushed for 2 minutes!

Love it!

What I love about my dad.

Top 5 things I love about my dad:

1. He grills the best hamburger in Carrollton, GA.
2. When he has a prize, he can't stand to wait to give it to you...I would say prizes with my dad only last about 2 hours before he has given it to us or called to tell us about it. It's so sweet:)
3. Growing up we woke up almost every morning to this old juke box that played oldies music.....every AM I woke up for school to the sounds of the Beatles, Elvis Presley, the 4 Seasons, etc...
4. He is supportive....even now....of every single thing I am involved in.
5. When he introduces my brother, sister, and I to people, he can't do it without bragging on us....(it's really embarrassing, but super sweet).

Happy Father's Day!

CRAFT

ok, so we finally got to have our anniversary date last night! I have mentioned before that B. and I are huge Top Chef fans. It is one of the few shows I have watched every single season. It's odd...bc I'm certianly not a cook...I'm not even a good cook...but I LOVE this show! Anyways, the head judge Tom Calliqueo has a restaurant in the Atl. called "Craft" He actually has locations in:Chicago, L.A., Las Vegas, and NYC (where it started).

B. and I have been saying for years we wanted to go to his restaurant simply for the love of the show...and we finally did!

Such yummy food (very Top Chef-ish type food), super trendy atmosphere, a special occasion type restaurant, LOVED IT...glad I got to experience it type restaurant. Here are some pics:

Mama June and a bunch of coaches:)

Today was such a special day. I have written several posts about my grandmother...who everyone calls "Mama June." Let me take this post to just brag on her a little bit:)

Today she received the Beverly Raines Service award for the Georgia Coaches Association for the state of Georgia! She was among hundreds of football, basketball, golf, track coaches in the state of Georgia. (which I must say I was quite impressed with all of their dedication and love for students in GA). So many great coaches were inducted into the GA Coaches Hall of Fame today....and then there was my sweet Mama June...nominated for her sweet acts of kindness and love for all. She was nominated by one of the coaches in our hometown. Here were just a couple of things said about her today:

Mama June is a woman who has been cooking homemade fried chicken for the football players at Central High School for over 30 years. Of course, she started this when her children went to school there but she continued on well after all of her children and even grandchildren graduated.
She opens up her home to the homeless
She has cooked meals for her home church for over 25 years
She cooks for the local nursing home every month.
She connects people who are homeless with organizations that can help them
She volunteered for the band
She sold concessions for over 15 years
She and her husband helped build the track at the school
She believes that a child's education is bettered with extra curricular activities
She believes every child and human soul is worthy of love.
She loves every person who meets her.

The women in my family definitely set the bar.....all of my aunts, my mother, cousins....all of them are some of the most talented, giving, selfless, loving people.....and it started with her. I was so honored to watch her accept this among so many amazing people. So proud to have her as my grandmother...so proud I got to be there:)

Anniversary #3 on June 3!

Brett and I celebrate Anniversary #3 today! That's right! We will celebrate tonight with Middle school ministry....and go out Friday night! I'm super pumped about the restaurant! (blog post to follow!)

So Brett, here are few things that I love so much about you:

1. I love that you let me go to Barnes and Noble. Not just that you let me go...but that you let me go and even though you have been done for an hour...you still wait patiently as I look through the kids and teacher books.
2. One of my favorite things that you do is the way you shove ALL types of books into my hands. It stretches my brain to think in new.....more creative ways.
3. I love that you don't get tired of me talking "ministry" or "education." i teach and love diving into the world of "all things education," so this is always on my brain....but ministry is too...and oh how I love to know about it, hear about it, and be challenged by it...and you never get tired of my education and ministry conversations.
4.I l love "going on a drive" with you. I love getting in the car and driving all over Gwinnett and Hall Co! Those are my favorite moments...just me, you, and the drive. (well, and sometimes the occasional stop for a Frosty at Wendy's).
5. I love your passion. Truly, you are passionate about every role in your life....a husband, pastor, friend, golfer, reader, son.
6. I love your encouragement for everything I get into....which is a lot of things!!!

I love you. Happy Anniversary #3! I can't wait to celebrate it with you this Friday.
Here are a couple of my favorite pics!

"Pink out" Golf

Loved watching all of these golf pros lay down their super manliness and "pink it out" at the Crowne Plaza Invitational. They raised funds and showed their support for Amy Mickelson (wife of golfer, Phil Mickelson) and Susan G. Koman for the cure.
