Spent time tonight with friends I don't get to see often. These girls are like family to me. It's so fun because we always pick right up where we left off. It is wonderful to have people like that in my life. Our time is so limited I often feel slighted on the things I would tell them if I had more time...so I think I'll just write it down:
Brooke and Leslie,
Truly, you have been my closest friends for at least 15 years of my life. I cannot imagine not having you in my life.
Brooke, you are wise beyond your years and you always have been. You have always been a sound, logical voice in my life. I know your desire and passion in life is to love your God with all your strength, heart, and soul and that is something worthy of praise and I admire you for it. My prayer for you is that you see just how talented God has created you to be and that you know He has the best intentions for you.
Leslie, your thoughtful ways always amaze me. When I visit your home I leave wanting to be a better wife and love my husband even more than I already do. The love you have for Bradley is so evident and contagious. You are so talented in so many small ways and your talents always have a way of making the people in your life feel so special and important. I pray that Bradley and you continue to see the wonderful things God has in store for you as a family.
Love you,
Lane

Mama June's Pound Cake Recipe
So I made this cake today and it is soooo yummo! However, I finally figured out why the name is "pound" cake...there is a pound of butter in this baby! But it is so worth every bite!
Ingredients:
1lb. Fleishman original margarine( I love that when my grandmother wrote this recipe for me she wrote "margin")
3 cups of sugar
10 large eggs
1 and 1/2 blocks of Philadelphia original cream cheese
1 top of vanilla flavoring (using the of of the vanilla bottle)
3 cups of All Purpose Flour
1/4 tsp. of salt
Directions:
Cream margarine , sugar, cream cheese, and vanilla flavoring for 15 min. on Medium speed. Then add eggs and alternate with flour. Use 3 eggs at a time..the last thing that should be added is the flour. Blend everything together well. Put in tube cake pan which should be greased with spray (or butter if you prefer more) and some flour. Cooke on 325 for 1 and 1/2 hour. (If you have a gas oven it only takes about an hour). Use toothpick to pick and see if done.
My whole life I grew up eating this pound cake every Sunday at Mama June's. I think I came pretty close to how she made it! Hope you like it! It's so good!

saying good bye
If you read my blog often you will see a pattern of the school I teach at being mentioned in several of them...this is mostly due to the fact that much of my time is spent there. I stopped wrapping gifts for my students to write this. Tomorrow is the last day of school and my heart aches to see them go on to the big, dark middle school! I mean I do realize this is the natural progression of life..but here have been my thoughts the past few minutes as I have looked at different pictures of my students that I will give them tomorrow..
."No one will love them as much as I did this year...there's just no way." I was looking at the picture of Alex and I thought about how all of his essays he wrote this year had to do with his dad who is in federal prison. Alex misses him so much. He was so excited to tell me this week that his dad had been moved from the prison in D.C. to the one in Atlanta..he had already gotten to go see him! Then I thought about Edgar who had to move to a smaller apartment this year so his family would have less rent...my heart aches for them. I think.."how could anyone love them as much as me?" Then I thought.."this must be how You feel" (referencing Jesus). For a moment I thought about what He must have thought," No one will love you as much as Me but I will let them try..."
Maybe this seems super cheesy but it was so real in my heart.

I truly look at a crazy day like this and just don't know how it's possible, yet, there are millions of people who seem to do it every single day! I am amazed at that!

world records with middle schoolers!
Wednesday night Brett had the middle school ministry try and break yet another World Record! 287 middle schoolers showed up for this crazy event and it was such a sweet night. Students came to know Christ as their Savior and several others grew in their faith. At one point during the night all the music had stopped and the students continued to sing and worship God. The sound of that many middle schoolers worshipping was such a beautiful praise to our Lord. What a great night it was!
