Edward Tulane

Right now I am reading the Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane to my kids at school. This is the first time I have read it. This book has quickly made it to my favorite top 5 book list. It is the most beautiful story and the rich language and vocabulary that Kate DiCamillo writes with keeps all of us not wanting to put it down...Edward Tulane is a great, easy, and inspiring read.

baby Jack

One of my friends at work had her little baby boy last Friday. His name is Jack. The really difficult part is that Jack came a few weeks too early and was transferred to Children's hospital downtown. Me, Katie, and Chelsea went to visit him today. Jamie was doing so great and so was Jack. He was so cute. All the tubes he was hooked up to were a little disturbing but you could see he was fighting so hard to breathe on his own. Pray for the Deeb's as they go down this road to having a healthy baby. Jamie has such a contagious, joyful spirit. She needs prayer for strength and energy and Jack needs to be healthy!

Beautiful words from the 5th grade

So my kids at school have been testing all week. Right after the test was over I said, "Guys, I just know you did so great. I prayed for all of you this morning and I am so confident you did amazing." My sweet Mayco said, "Mrs. Moore I prayed too and I know that no matter what... I did good because of God." I couldn't believe my sweet, little 5th grader said something so profound and sweet.
There are some days when school really wears me down, but then there are those days when Mayco says something like this...or one of my kids will say, "Mrs. Moore, I really love to read in your class!" Oh...my heart melts. So all of the hard days are so worth it when I hear words like that!
Here are some pictures of just a few of my students using the reading strategies to enrich their independent reading time.

Kennedy June

So my sister had Kennedy June on Friday, April 11. She is the first grandbaby for my parents and is too precious. I spent a few days with my sister and Kennedy and loved visiting every minute! Here are some pics.

Super Sketchy Skybus

So here's a crazy story. Got a message from Missi last night telling me that she read that Skybus was closing on Saturday. Sky bus was the airline we booked for our Boston adventure. I'm thinking, "Oh, well surely the flights will be honored for a few more months." Nope. All flights were cancelled and so I am sitting here watching Top Chef reruns and blogging. I was a little disappointed because I was just so excited about all the cool history stuff we were going to get to see, but there is a reason...so I am thankful. Katie and Heather are such good, dear friends and I am just thankful for their presence in my lives (in Boston or not!)

Spring Break

Gone to Boston for a few days with Katie and Heather. Here are just a few stops we are making while visiting:
Walden Pond
Ralph Waldo Emerson/Henry David Thoreau homes
Louisa May Alcott House
Nathanial Hawthorne House
House of Seven Gables
Sleepy Hollow Cemetery
Martha's Vinyard
Harvard
Fenway
Salem, MA
Pretty excited!

baseball game and family

It was a great day! My mom and dad came up from Carrollton to eat dinner with Brett and I. My cousin Will plays baseball at Walker High School and was playing at Buford High tonight. So me, mom, and dad went to the game! It was so much fun because I got to see my uncle and watch Will play some REALLY great ball!

Also, I'm getting excited for my Boston adventure with Katie and Heather! We leave Saturday!
