On not forgetting.

I blog for a few reasons:
1. so mia familia can keep up with what's going on in our lives
2. to meet and learn from the blogosphere
3. to write it all out so I don't forget

In honor of not forgetting....I don't want to forget this:
We only have a half day of school today because of our "maybe" snow...I know...but it's GA...we freak out over one patch of ice. When I told my class to be sure and watch the news to know if we have school on Friday or not one of my sweet little girls quietly came up to me later and said, "Mrs. Moore, we don't have a TV or internet or a radio in my car...how will I find out? In the past, I've waited for the bus and it didn't come so we just figured it out, but I was just wondering if there was a number I could call?"
of course, I'm almost in tears at this point...the results: my phone number went out to my entire class....I just couldn't bear the thought of my sweet kids waiting outside in 18 degree whether waiting to see if the bus would come or not. So, I might get 25 phone calls tomorrow morning.
I am grateful for the things I learn from 5th graders on a daily basis....and although this is a sad story...I don't want to forget it. I want to remember it.

I have chills right now. If I had the money, I would buy that little girl a tv. So sad! You are an awesome teacher! Speaking of not forgetting, your kids will remember you for the rest of their lives.
